Potty trained at 11 mo.?

So I have a “playgroup” on Wed. mornings with two other moms that share a similar (unusual) interest with me. One of the moms has a 7-mo.-old (we’ll call him E-) and the other mom has an 11-mo.-old, we’ll call her C-. the kids play near each other rather than with each other while the moms hang out. But this week I discovered something.
C- is potty trained! She can’t walk, she can’t talk, but she’s potty trained!

That’s weird, right? To have your child potty-trained at 11 mo.? I haven’t delved into the world of potty training yet because I figured it was one of those few things I could put off for a while yet.

I know that there’s a (small) movement that eschews altogether diapers for infants. I didn’t investigate that. But… 11 months!

Does she hold the kid over the toilet every 30 minutes? There are some cultures (3rd world ones) where diapers are non existant, so this is how they deal with that issue. Weird though. Cause to me, being potty trained is having the ability to get your ass to the toilet. My youngest is 10 months old. Um…..yeah, not happening here.

Yeah, I see trained as being able to walk over, pull your own pants down and do your thing. Environmentally, I guess EC has it’s place, but honestly I think it’s kind of freaky, and I personally would not have had the patience to guess when Max may have wanted to go at that age.

As much as I hate having a 3 yr old who has no desire to use the potty, I have no desire to EC. At. All.
