I think I broke my little toe

I stubbed my pinky toe yesterday and it still hurts. There’s a faint, shadowy bruise along the side of the foot near the toe. I may need to go to the doctor. Sigh. I don’t have time for a broken toe or broken foot.

Usually I would just ignore it and limp along — most of the time they can’t do much for a busted toe anyway. But two things change my mind today. First, I saw the House episode where Mira Sorvino’s character suffers lung collapse because of a broken toe leaking marrow into her system. So don’t want that. Second, I went for a walk to run errands yesterday — I walk a LOT — and before I got home, I was panting in pain.  I can’t be not walking — I’m an urban mom. We walk.

I’m tired, too. Not sure why. Weird dreams and the fact that I’m trying to calorie cut, probably. Sigh. My kitchen is in need of attention — I made hummus and two kinds of granola and dinner last night and filled my dishwasher and had dirty dishes left over. It’s 19 degrees out and I really don’t want to go for a walk in teh cold with a hurt foot, but The Child is bouncing off the walls already.

Okay, I’m done cranking.

get some first aid tape and tape your toe to the toe next to it. if you did break it, chances are at about 85% that the doctor will say “yeah that’s a sucky one to break, lets tape it together with the toe next to it, have some ibuprophen, and stop watching house – you aren’t going to leak marrow into your system and die” and then charge you 60 dollars (if you’re lucky) for the visit and send you on your way 🙂

I actually broke the holy heck out of my pinky toe last Sunday. Well, actually, I broke the bone in my foot that leads to the toe. I knew for sure it was broken because I’m pretty sure your pinky toe isn’t supposed to stay jacked out to the side at a 45 degree angle.

So I went to the doctor and as the above poster said, all they did (after x-rays) was buddy tape that bad boy to it’s neighbor and give me a walking boot.

So, save yourself a doctor’s bill and tape that little sucker.

    Hope it feels better soon!
