Getting my thanks in extra-early

I’ve had one of those weeks when I want to believe in some kind of a God just so I can thank her for what I have. Since my spirituality doesn’t encompass an anthropomorphic diety, I’ll go with the secular humanist angle and tell all of you how flipping thankful I am.

Mostly it’s the bad kind of thankful — I’ve had fistsful of my friends and acquaintences have super crappy moments this week and I am reminded, in those moments, to be thankful.

I’m thankful that my husband has a job. I’m thankful that I have food and a roof and warm clothes. I’m thankful that I have a loving and supportive family (despite the fact that my mom and I fight a lot). I’m thankful for my friends, who are simply stellar — they are like stars light up even the darkest nights. I am thankful for a happy healthy daughter. I am thankful for my health (cough, cough, bronchitis doesn’t count). But, most of all, I am thankful for my husband, who is my rock and my light.

Sappiness over.
